Asthma & Pets: Should you keep your furry friends around?

Pets such as cats, dogs, and even birds can be sources of allergens that can trigger asthma symptoms. When people with asthma come into contact with these allergens, their immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and narrowing of the airways, which can make it difficult to breathe. 

However, it's important to note that not everyone with asthma will be affected by pet allergens, and not all pets produce the same amount of allergens. Additionally, some breeds of dogs and cats may produce fewer allergens than others.
